All of Don Patriquin’s published choral sheet music is available through this site – as choral sheet music per se, in both printed and PDF formats, as well on CD and DVD. Please search our catalog.

His subject matter is eclectic, ranging from environmental concerns (Karenna for soprano, string orchestra & percussion, Reflections on Walden Pond for SATB & piano trio) through war (Earthpeace for SATB & SSA) and love (Three Love Songs from the British Isles SSA and piano) to the innocence of children (Songs of Innocence SSAA, piano or harp, and flute). His output includes music for choir as well as a variety of instrumental ensembles, in styles ranging from musicals, ballets, multi media, folksong arrangements and church music to ‘traditional’ concert fare.

His ‘original’ music is enjoyed for its ability to capture the essence of whatever he is writing about and to present it via an accessible musical language. This is well exemplified in his Requiem for the Titanic in which listeners, transported to another time and place, relive intimately the events of the great disaster. His arrangements blend folkloric and contemporary elements with an “infectious energy and humor” in a style widely appreciated for its unique balance between accompaniment and melody.

Don Patriquin’s compositional highlights include commissions by organizations as varied as International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Toronto Children’s Chorus, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Elmer Iseler Singers, the C.B.C., Pennsylvania’s Cantate Carlisle and the American Guild of Organists. He won New York’s prestigious Melodious Accord Biennial Search for New Choral Music Award (Alice Parker) and twice won the CAMMAC Award for choral composition. Along with Dick Loomer, Donald instigated the ACCC Associated Publishers Award for Choral Composition which has spawned a new generation of choral composers. His music was recently featured on National Public Radio’s highly acclaimed program From the Top with Christopher O’Riley.  His SATB and SSA choral music has been sung by a plethora of American Choral Directors Association choirs as well as a variety of choirs the world over, and his music has helped many a choir achieve high standings in choral competitions.

It is a work that is do-able and creates so many concert possibilities. Kudos to Donald Patriquin and Wolfgang Kater.

Titanic Requiem For the lyrics, program notes and score excerpt please click here

Titanic Requiem, Choral music for choir, soloists and instruments, was written in commemoration of the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 in which over 1500 lives were lost. The work is as much a homage to the ship itself as to its passengers and crew. It is also a warning for our time: “Ice-fields loom large in our dark night…”
